‘Mai’ is a short film portraying the fear and misconceptions related with AIDS victims, and the outlook of people towards them and their family in the Indian Society. It tries to show this through a story of quest of an old woman’s life after the death of her son with AIDS. The film is also an attempt to put light on the issues related to old age people and their condition in a suburban nuclear family structure. The film is a docu-fiction and uses animation as a medium to blend the two genres.
